October Cookbook Club Pick: Antoni in the Kitchen by Antoni Porowski

by Becky LeJeune

Ted Allen may have left some big shoes to fill in Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, but Antoni Porowski has taken on the job and made the position of food and wine expert his own. It’s not surprising considering he came to the show on Allen’s own recommendation! And after four seasons, Porowski has debuted his very first cookbook, Antoni in the Kitchen

Porowski blends his Polish heritage with his love of all things food to bring fans a cookbook packed with recipes perfect for parties as well as quiet nights in. Dishes like Herbed Lobster and Saffron Dip and Whole Roasted Red Snapper with Lemon & Herbs are perfect for wowing quests, while Zurek, aka The Polish Hangover Soup, and Rainy-Day Grilled Cheese with Proscuitto and Easy Tomato Bisque are the epitome of comfort. Other dishes include Chickpea Masala, inspired by dinners Porowski ate with a friend growing up; Cauliflower Steaks with Turmeric & Crunchy Almonds; and tips on building the perfect cheese plate.

In addition to tantalizing dishes and gorgeous photography, Antoni in the Kitchen also offers insight into the author himself, his life, his loves, and of course, his relationship with food.

Antoni in the Kitchen is perfect for Queer Eye fans as well as anyone who might need a little inspiration in the kitchen. And while Porowski’s cookbook isn’t quite as hands on as cooking alongside him on the show, the recipes are designed for people of varying kitchen experience to be able to reproduce in their own home.

Happy eating! Remember to sign up for the book club over on Readtribe. And be sure to post your pictures to social media using the hashtag: #BookBarCookClub
