The book, Long Way Down, by Jason Reynolds, is about this kid named Will. His brother, Shawn, gets killed and he lives in a neighborhood where there are only three rules, and one of them is to get revenge. Revenge on the person who killed someone close to your. Will suspects one person and he goes to the apartment of the suspect. As he goes down the elevator, each floor, a new person comes on and Will knows all of the people who come on. All friends or family of his who died. They ask him questions about life and what he’s doing. But mainly, is this the right thing to do and if it is, than is this the actually person who did?
My favorite character in the book was the dad because he was smart and wise but cool. I think those are good character traits to have because you might need them later on in life. I think Long Way Down kept you turning the pages because for me, I really wanted to se who the next person would come on the elevator and their stories were interesting, especially for these people to get picked to be seen by Will.
I think Long Way Down is a good book for middle schoolers because it shows how you need to see if you are correct about things and also, that revenge is not a good way for things, even if what they did was really hurtful or not. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. It was a really good book.
